The job at a glance
The Senior SAP ABAP Developer will design, build, enhance, debug, support, maintain, and test ABAP solutions that underpin the S/4HANA and GTS platforms. You will be engaged from concept through implementation, collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver effective, scalable solutions.
A typical day
- Interface with business process owners, analysts, and functional engineers to understand data requirements
- Conduct data profiling and analysis to establish and refine data models
- Collaborate on data model reviews, sign-offs, and adoption with global users and delivery teams
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
- Contribute to process automation and performance optimization efforts
- Ensure security and governance compliance across solutions
- Participate in unit, integration, and user acceptance testing to ensure quality
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, debug, support, maintain, and test SAP ABAP software for S/4HANA and GTS
- Contribute across the full solution lifecycle from design through deployment
- Collaborate with other technical groups and business leaders
- Work with the business team to translate data requirements into technical solutions
- Perform data profiling and analysis to shape data models
- Support data model reviews and adoption with global users, architecture, and delivery teams
- Produce and maintain technical documentation
- Support automation and performance improvements
- Uphold security and governance policies
- Participate in testing (unit, integration, UAT) to ensure quality
What you need to succeed
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience coordinating with business partners, vendors, and users
- Working knowledge of key business processes such as sales order processing, purchasing, distribution, payables, and receivables
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Experience collaborating with SAP business system analysts to document functional and technical requirements
- At least one full SAP implementation lifecycle completed, with post-production ABAP support
- Strong SAP ABAP development and ABAP Workbench navigation skills
- Experience integrating SAP with third-party SQL Server systems and applications
- Hands-on experience building interfaces to non-SAP applications using RFCs, BAPIs, ALE/IDOC, ODATA, and Web Services
- Familiarity with SAP enhancement techniques such as EXITS, BADIs, and AIF
- Experience with SAP Fiori applications, including custom extensions and user-role configuration
- Proficiency in designing data dictionary objects, data elements, domains, structures, views, lock objects, and search helps
- Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience
