Senior Mainframe Developer

We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of new or revised mainframe applications in collaboration with the Technology team. This role focuses on guiding applications systems analysis and programming efforts to deliver impactful solutions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multiple management groups to ensure seamless function integration, identify system enhancements for new products, and drive process improvements.
• Tackle high impact problems and projects by thoroughly evaluating complex business processes, system workflows, and industry standards.
• Provide subject matter expertise and advanced programming knowledge to ensure designs align with the overall architecture blueprint.
• Apply deep knowledge of system flow to establish coding, testing, debugging, and implementation standards.
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of how business areas such as architecture and infrastructure interconnect to achieve goals.
• Carry out in-depth analysis with interpretive thinking to define issues and develop innovative solutions.
• Act as an advisor or mentor to mid-level developers and analysts, delegating work as needed.
• Assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets by ensuring regulatory compliance, adhering to policies, exercising ethical judgment, and transparently escalating and reporting control issues.

Recommended Qualifications

• 5+ years of IBM mainframe development experience
• Experience developing batch and online programs in COBOL
• Proficiency with IBM utilities and other mainframe tools and data structures such as FileAid, Rexx, JCL, CICS, Changeman, GitHub, Expediter, TSO/ISPF, VSAM, and DB2
• 2+ years of experience using AI tools such as Devin AI and CoPilot
• Extensive experience in system analysis and software applications programming
• Experience leading and delivering successful projects
• Subject Matter Expert in at least one area of Applications Development
• Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
• Proven leadership and project management capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Master’s degree preferred
