Job Description

Systemtec is seeking a Developer III: Mainframe Support to join a hybrid team based in Columbia, South Carolina. In this role, you will help keep mainframe applications running smoothly while supporting development, testing, deployment, and platform improvements that align with modernization work.

You will work across troubleshooting and delivery activities, providing day-to-day technical assistance to application development teams and maintaining standards for security support, vendor initiatives, and business continuity exercises.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot development, testing, implementation, and production issues, then recommend and support effective resolutions.
  • Deliver day-to-day technical support to application development teams using mainframe tools, utilities, and established development processes.
  • Design, develop, modify, test, debug, document, and maintain application programs and related technical solutions.
  • Support code promotion, application testing, deployment, and implementation activities.
  • Partner with technical teams and customers to identify process improvements, improve developer productivity, and support modernization efforts.
  • Maintain technical documentation and development standards while participating in security support, vendor initiatives, disaster recovery exercises, and business continuity activities.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; Systemtec cannot provide sponsorship or work with third-party agencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a mainframe development environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCL.
  • Experience with SORT/SyncSort, including security reporting and data-processing activities.
  • Proficiency with DB2/SQL and/or IMS query tools.
  • Strong understanding of application development, testing, integration, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Work Location

Hybrid/partial onsite: The team works onsite Tuesday through Thursday in Columbia, SC. Work location is also described as hybrid remote in Columbia, SC 29201.

Pay: $50.35 per hour.
