Lead Developer, Finance Technology

Join The J. M. Smucker Company in Orrville, OH, where finance technology leadership combines strategic impact with hands-on delivery. This hybrid role offers the chance to architect analytics and automation solutions, mentor a growing team (including interns), and champion responsible AI adoption across Finance and the wider business. You will work with stakeholders to align with enterprise strategies, delivering scalable, reliable tools and insights.

Location: Orrville, Ohio. Work arrangement: Hybrid, 40% in office (nine days per month).

Responsibilities

• Provide architectural direction and hands‑on support for advanced analytics, data pipelines, and automation solutions that serve Finance and the broader organization.
• Design high‑impact solutions, reinforce compliance standards, mentor team members including interns, and advocate for responsible AI adoption.
• Contribute to standards, design decisions, and solution patterns to promote scalability, reliability, and alignment with enterprise and Finance strategies.
• Identify, design, and deploy RPA and AI‑enabled automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve cycle times.
• Engage across the automation lifecycle and partner with COE and IT teams to strengthen governance and sustainability.
• Help colleagues recognize automation opportunities and understand how AI and automation can modernize Finance workflows.
• Assist in developing and refining statistical and machine‑learning models.
• Collaborate with teams to integrate predictive and AI‑driven insights into decision‑making and promote responsible, effective usage patterns that strengthen analytical maturity.
• Drive technology‑driven process improvements across Finance by equipping teams with modern tools, methods, and best practices.
• Support enterprise reporting processes and reinforce data governance, audit, and SOX requirements through collaborative stewardship and cross‑functional partnership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business analytics, data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field
• 5+ years in analytics, programming, automation, or advanced data roles
• Deep experience with R, Python, and SQL; proven delivery with BI tools and production model operations
• Experience with RPA platforms (e.g., Blue Prism, UiPath, Automation Anywhere)
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated ability to support teams in applying AI and automation effectively
• Continuous learning mindset and passion for emerging technologies
