This hybrid Senior Machine Learning Engineer position supports generative AI applications aimed at research-heavy professional workflows. The role focuses on turning advanced model work into reliable services, retrieval components, and coordinated agent systems, with an emphasis on deployment, scale, observability, and responsible use.
Role Focus
You will build and productionize large language model services and supporting capabilities for an enterprise platform. Work includes semantic retrieval and orchestration that connects LLMs, retrieval services, tools, and agent-based processes, enabling users to search, synthesize, and act on complex information.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a deeply hands-on individual contributor, delivering AI-driven product features for professional users.
- Develop resilient services and platform patterns designed for large-scale, distributed machine learning workloads.
- Create orchestration layers that coordinate LLMs, retrieval services, tools, and multi-step agent workflows.
- Build and improve large language model services, semantic retrieval components, and coordinated agent systems.
- Collaborate with product engineering, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams to support enterprise standards for speed, availability, and protection.
Requirements
- Significant experience developing and productionizing machine learning solutions.
- Hands-on expertise with large language models, autonomous agents, and multi-step AI workflows.
- Strong understanding of retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector indexing, and semantic search.
- Knowledge of model release processes, experiment tracking, monitoring, and related MLOps practices.
- Professional Python engineering experience.
- Experience operating distributed workloads in AWS and Kubernetes.
- Experience building products for legal, regulatory, publishing, knowledge-management, or similarly content-intensive environments.
- Experience level: 12+ years in software development, or 8+ years of development experience combined with a doctoral degree.
- Degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future.

This is a hybrid role based in Boston, MA with the position also described as a hybrid role based in Nashua, New Hampshire.
