Job Description

The Data Engineer & Automation Developer at Guidehouse Inc. will design and maintain automated, data-driven workflows and integrations that support client missions. The role emphasizes hands-on development with Python and Databricks, Microsoft Power Platform solutions, and clear communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Apply strong technical skills and a mission-focused mindset to understand client needs, identify opportunities, and design data-driven solutions.
  • Use Python and Databricks to create and maintain automated workflows that catalog data via APIs, including ingesting and transforming data from multiple sources and file types.
  • Create and maintain authentication workbooks to support connections from data sources to data cataloging tools.
  • Develop and maintain solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps.
  • Communicate clearly by translating technical findings for both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
  • Engage with clients to gather requirements, adapt solutions to mission needs, and support initiative execution.

Required Qualifications

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED “SECRET” Federal or DoD security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two (2) years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, data science, data engineering, or data visualization.
  • Experience creating and maintaining automated workflows using Python in Databricks to catalog data via APIs for ingesting and transforming data from various sources and file types.
  • Experience creating and maintaining authentication workbooks to connect data sources to cataloging tools such as Alation.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Platform and creating and maintaining Power Apps.
  • Ability to support remote, hybrid, or on-site projects in the Washington D.C. metro area.

What Would Be Nice to Have

  • Three (3) or more years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience working in Databricks.
  • Familiarity with Agile team operations, such as sprint planning, standup calls, writing Jira stories, and backlog refinement.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively identify opportunities to add value to the client, driving initiatives and innovation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present technical solutions, insights, and results to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership.
  • Experience performing data engineering, such as Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) and managing databases.
  • Experience with data cataloging and metadata.
  • Experience working with APIs.
  • Familiarity with Alation.
  • Ability to support business development, including RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses and white papers.
  • Relevant experience supporting Department of State or other Federal Government organizations.
