Job Description
The Lead Software Engineer II role on Deloitte’s Government & Public Services AI & Data team focuses on driving secure, full stack AI-enabled web application delivery for mission-focused client engagements. The position combines solution architecture, prototype creation, and production transition, with hands-on leadership across concurrent workstreams.
What You’ll Do
- Lead application development for a team of approximately 10 developers, engineers, and data scientists supporting mission-focused client work.
- Gather requirements, architect solutions, build prototypes, and support transition of full stack applications into production environments.
- Develop and oversee web applications using ReactJS, Python, NoSQL, Vector, and graph database technologies.
- Coordinate with program leadership, clients, and other vendors to advise on technical approaches and deliver solutions across multiple concurrent projects.
- Supervise junior team members and support delivery for AI-enabled applications deployed in secure client environments.
Technologies and Engineering Focus
Work includes building and integrating modern application capabilities and services, including:
- Frontend and backend: ReactJS, Python
- Data and AI systems: NoSQL, Vector, graph database technologies
- APIs: REST, API versioning, API design, API validation, pagination, error handling
- Security and identity: OAuth 2.0/2.1, OpenID Connect, MFA, JWT
- Cloud and operations: AWS, GCP, CI/CD, release engineering
- Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes
Team and Mission
- Deloitte’s Government & Public Services (GPS) practice brings people, ideas, technology, and outcomes for impact.
- The GPS practice serves federal, state, and local government clients, as well as public higher education institutions.
- The AI & Data offering provides solutions for designing, developing, and operating Data and AI platforms, products, insights, and services.
- Engagements help clients innovate and scale their data, AI, and analytics capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 7+ years of software development experience using ReactJS, Python, NoSQL, Vector or Graph Databases, Docker and Kubernetes.
- APIs: Experience with API design (REST, API versioning, validation, pagination, error handling, etc.).
- Leadership: Experience leading application development teams.
- Work authorization: Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Security: Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
- Location: Ability to work 100% onsite in Tampa, FL.
- Travel: Ability to travel up to 10%, on average, based on the work and clients/industries served.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government clients in secure delivery environments.
- Experience developing generative artificial intelligence-enabled applications.
- Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP).
- Knowledge of Application Security, including OAuth 2.0/2.1, OpenID Connect, MFA, secure session handling, and JWT risks.
- Experience with CI/CD and release engineering.
- Experience translating requirements into prototypes and production-ready solutions.
- Experience collaborating with data scientists and cross-functional technical teams.
- Experience leading multiple concurrent technical projects.
