Build reliable WLAN connectivity for Fuchsia, Google’s modern, open-source operating system. The Fuchsia WLAN Core team works on WLAN features and the 802.11 specification, delivering improvements that can be validated quickly through integration and end-to-end testing. Based in Seattle, WA (onsite), this Software Engineer III role offers a strong compensation range of USD 147,000 - 210,000 per year, plus benefits including comprehensive insurance and paid time off.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop WLAN features with an emphasis on 802.11 spec correctness.
- Write, review, and maintain Python-based WLAN tests that run in Fuchsia’s infra connectivity test lab.
- Contribute to the next generation of infra device architecture for Fuchsia connectivity.
- Implement and monitor device metrics for crashes, performance, and feature rollout.
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and performance of the software stack.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in Rust.
- Experience in software engineering in a wireless networking environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience developing wireless networking protocols and devices.

The Fuchsia WLAN Core team is part of Fuchsia’s Connectivity organization, with a goal to bring reliable WLAN connectivity to Fuchsia. The Core team implements the 802.11 specification and works closely with Driver and Policy teams to develop a full WLAN stack, including power-save capabilities.
