Job Description

Probity Inc. is seeking a full stack engineer to support a backend development team focused on middleware and backend services. This onsite role in Chantilly, VA is designed for developers who enjoy building reliable backend capabilities and collaborating on production-focused systems.

What you’ll be working on

In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy middleware and/or backend code that supports a production system. You will contribute to backend service delivery using modern tooling and APIs, and help ensure data and search components are reliable and maintainable. Your work will intersect with backend service development and full stack implementation as needed by the team.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy middleware and/or backend code to a production system.
  • Support backend development for middleware and backend services.
  • Work with search technologies and related data flows, including activities such as indexing and schema changes.
  • Apply data analysis practices to support data quality and operational needs.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience using big data technologies such as SPARK or PYSPARK.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Solr or Elastic, including running an index, spinning up a Solr cluster and loading an index onto the cluster, and/or making Solr/Elastic schema changes.
  • Demonstrated experience performing data quality analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with Regular Expressions (RegEx).
  • Demonstrated experience programming using Java, JavaScript, Bash, and Python.
  • Demonstrated experience working with several AWS services.
  • Demonstrated writing experience with Java 8+ (Probity Inc. will upgrade to Java 17 later this year).
  • Demonstrated experience with JIRA and GITHUB.
  • Demonstrated experience with Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux operating systems such as CENTOS.
  • Demonstrating experience designing, developing, and deploying middleware and/or backend code to a production system.

Security clearance

This position requires an ACTIVE Top Secret/SCI Clearance with Polygraph. To be considered, you must have an active clearance level of Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
