Software Engineer, Intermediate
Job Description
As an intermediate Software Engineer with the State of Michigan, you will serve as an advanced information technology programmer/analyst and a technical resource within the Eligibility Division of Agency Services supporting MDHHS. The role focuses on production support while contributing to the evaluation of technical options and the design, development, and maintenance of applications across multiple platforms.
Based in Lansing, MI, this hybrid position supports both on-site collaboration and remote work. You will partner with the development team to keep services running effectively and to recommend technical modifications as needs evolve.
Role Summary
- Provide production support for supported applications.
- Evaluate possible solutions and develop alternative solutions when improvements are needed.
- Recommend technical modifications to support production and system needs.
- Design, develop, and maintain applications across multiple platforms.
Location and Work Arrangement
- The official office location is Lansing, MI.
- The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants who do not plan to relocate.
- Hybrid schedule: two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.
Compensation
- Salary range: USD 33 - 48 per hourly.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.
- Experience: Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.
Alternate Education and Experience
- An associate’s degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in relevant fields (computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics) plus two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant (4,160 hours) may be substituted for the education requirement.
- Alternatively, educational level typically acquired through completion of high school plus four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
Sign-On Bonus
- Sign-on bonus of up to $2,500: up to $1,250 upon new hire, with the remainder after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period).
