Job Description
Trane Technologies is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to accelerate advanced analytics and AI capabilities that support engineering productivity and customer value across the chiller business. In this hybrid role based in La Crosse, WI, you will help scale analytics and AI services through enterprise platform foundations while working closely with engineering, product management, and IT to turn business needs into usable tools.
What you’ll do
- Use critical thinking to translate design, engineering, product support, and manufacturing requirements into supporting tools.
- Improve engineering analytics capabilities through workflow efficiency, automation, documentation, and ongoing enhancements.
- Coordinate work and changes with the Engineering Technology Center and Advanced Concepts and Capability partners.
- Engage stakeholders via an agile process and prioritize development based on strategic capability and business value.
- Lead cross functional efforts to build and maintain analytic workflows and visualizations.
- Explore new data to improve existing solutions and identify new opportunities.
- Implement data monitoring in production to help ensure consistency of data feeding models.
- Act as a consultant to other functions to expand organizational data knowledge and capabilities.
- Develop advanced data science workflows that deliver predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Leverage enterprise LLM/AI platforms to build solutions that solve problems at scale.
- Build agentic workflows that improve process automation.
- Support a culture of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and documentation.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, data science, engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in software development or advanced analytics.
- 2+ years of people leadership in a project setting or small team.
- Leadership experience with agile methodology and related concepts.
- Proficiency with data engineering tools such as Dataiku, Tableau, Oracle Business Intelligence, Informatica, Rapid Miner, Azure BI, or Google Cloud Products.
- Experience building APIs or endpoints to deploy solutions.
- Knowledge of advanced data science concepts including predictive and prescriptive analytics and associated machine learning techniques.
- Ability to travel with expected travel time of ~5%.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in statistics, computer science, or engineering.
- Experience with enterprise D&A platforms such as Azure AI Foundry or Vertex AI.

Compensation
Annual base salary range: USD 75,700 - 135,834 per year. Compensation type: Salary. Incentive eligible: No. Sales commission eligible: No.
Schedule and work location
- Monday to Thursday: work onsite with colleagues.
- Friday: choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.
