Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the GloMA segment of the C2BMC Global program, based onsite in Colorado Springs. This role centers on Java-based software development and system integration within a complex missile defense context, delivering robust solutions for a large distributed system. The position blends independent work with close collaboration to meet dynamic, mission-critical objectives.

Overview

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a pivotal element of the Missile Defense System. It enables commanders and defense leadership to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. The GloMA software engineering effort supports these capabilities through Java-based development and integration within a large distributed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for software development using Java
  • Interact with others using strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Work either independently or within a small group
  • Be flexible in a highly dynamic, ever-changing environment
  • Provide in-depth analysis and technical support for a large, distributed system written in Java
  • Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large codebase
  • Follow specifications to develop or modify functionality within the code
  • Assist with design, benchmarking, testing, debugging, and documentation
  • Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve the system's overall efficiency
  • Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation
  • Works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives; failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable resource expenditure
  • Frequent contact with internal and external customers and representation of the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to be cleared at TS/SCI
  • Experience with Java
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Knowledge of software practices and coding standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify the root cause, and recommend and develop a solution

Salary

Primary level salary range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00 per year
