Job Description

The Principal Software Engineer – Algorithm SW Engineer role supports the C2BMC program in Huntsville, Alabama, with a focus on Java-based mathematical algorithms. The position is onsite only and requires an active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to software design artifacts, implement Java-based changes, participate in design and code reviews, and assist with software testing and issue resolution arising from testing
  • Present developed designs to stakeholders and team members
  • Actively participate in Agile planning and execution according to established C2BMC processes

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field with five years of experience; or a Master’s degree with three years of relevant experience; or nine years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance at the time of application
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business needs
  • Full life-cycle software development experience
  • Java application development experience
  • Unix/Linux experience
  • Experience implementing mathematical algorithms in software
  • Agile development experience
  • MATLAB proficiency
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices
  • Systems integration experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis and solution recommendations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently, and thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams such as Systems Engineering, Integration and Test, Deployment, and Warfighter Support to ensure mission success

Position Overview

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals.

Salary

Compensation ranges from USD 108,800 to USD 163,200 per year.
