This onsite role in Huntsville, AL focuses on building and maintaining Java-based software for the Battle Management/Sensor Resource Management (BM/SRM) Product Team, with hands-on collaboration across algorithms and software architecture.

What you’ll work on

The C2BMC program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It helps enable systematic planning, collective monitoring, and dynamic control of networked sensors and weapon systems to support global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities and serves as a force multiplier by networking and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems across operational and strategic levels.

In this role, you will develop, optimize, and maintain software for the C2BMC Battle Management/Sensor Resource Management Product Team, working closely with the BM/SRM Algorithms, Analysis, and Design (BAAD) team and the BM/SRM Software Architect to ensure algorithmic and architectural improvements align to system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Java-based software, including participating in code reviews, creating and running unit tests, and troubleshooting issues found during software integration and testing
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate software behavior, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement efficient and maintainable solutions
  • Participate in Agile planning and execution using established C2BMC processes
  • Implement enhancements and contribute to the optimization and maintenance of Java applications, including improvements to algorithms and software architectures
  • Coordinate with BM/SRM BAAD and the BM/SRM Software Architect to translate designs into software implementations and keep changes aligned with system requirements

Requirements

  • Must have a current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start)
  • Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 5 years of experience, or Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of relevant experience as an alternative to a degree
  • Experience developing Java-based software applications using object-oriented design
  • Experience analyzing, modifying, and optimizing existing software to improve performance, efficiency, and maintainability
  • Experience working with software architecture, data structures, and algorithms to build maintainable and efficient solutions
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (design, implementation, integration, testing, debugging) in Unix/Linux environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently investigate complex issues and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Willingness to travel infrequently between Huntsville and Colorado development facilities as required
