Job Description

The Principal Software Engineer position will help support the C2BMC program by standardizing, automating, and securing software delivery pipelines for the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (RA ART) across multiple product teams and development sites.

Role Summary

In this onsite role in Huntsville, AL, you will design and maintain CI/CD capabilities that enable consistent and reliable builds, testing, integrations, and deployments in classified environments. You will work across RA ART and align with related ARTs to ensure security, compliance, and performance expectations are met while supporting Agile delivery practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain a standardized CI/CD pipeline used by all Product Teams within the RA ART to ensure consistency, reliability, and scalability across multiple software releases and build versions
  • Coordinate across the RA ART and closely with the Cyber and Platforms ARTs to ensure CI/CD tools, integrations, and configurations support security, compliance, and performance requirements
  • Integrate and manage core DevSecOps tools, including Git, Nexus, Jenkins, Jira, and Confluence, to support automated build, test, integration, and deployment workflows in classified environments
  • Implement and support Linux-based system administration and system security controls for CI/CD infrastructure, including hardening, patching, and compliance with program security requirements
  • Develop and maintain Linux shell scripts and Ansible playbooks to automate configuration, provisioning, deployment, and monitoring of CI/CD infrastructure and applications
  • Administer and manage Security-Enhanced (SE) Linux and Red Hat repositories to support secure software builds and deployments
  • Collaborate with system administrators, IT, and security personnel to troubleshoot issues, resolve integration challenges, and improve pipeline performance and reliability
  • Provide regular status updates covering pipeline health, tool performance, ongoing work, risks, and issue resolution to RA leadership and other stakeholders
  • Support Agile development practices within the RA ART by participating in relevant Agile ceremonies and contributing to continuous improvement of CI/CD and DevSecOps practices

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, plus 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience as an alternative to a degree
  • Current, active Government-Issued 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher at the time of application (required to start). Examples include Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND. The candidate is responsible for maintaining 8140 certifications throughout the entire contract period
  • Current, active in-scope Government-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application (required to start)
  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
  • Experience working within classified environments to implement and support CI/CD pipelines for multiple software releases and build versions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present status and technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a highly dynamic environment
  • Proven ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, especially Systems Administrators, IT, and Security
  • Linux system administration and system security implementations
  • Experience with all or some of: Git, Nexus, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence
  • Experience with CI/CD implementation and operations, particularly in a classified development environment
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and tooling

Education and Experience

Minimum experience of 3 years is required for this role. The position accepts either an appropriate Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience, a Master’s degree with relevant experience, or a degree alternative based on total relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and their application to systems and CI/CD infrastructure
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) implementation such as IPA and ADFS
  • Cloud- and virtualization-related technologies such as OpenShift, OpenStack, VMware ESXi
  • QAS/VAS, Windows, Active Directory, Backup and Recovery solutions
  • Containers and container orchestration products (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes or similar)
  • Understanding of Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) concepts and how they relate to CI/CD and DevSecOps
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery principles and how they apply to IT infrastructure and IT products

Compensation

USD 108,800 - 163,200 per year.
