Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Software Engineer or Software Engineer for an onsite role in Melbourne, Florida. The position centers on designing, developing, documenting, testing and debugging software and systems, with potential relocation assistance and travel up to 10% of the time. This opportunity combines hands-on software engineering with cross-disciplinary collaboration to support both product and commercial software initiatives.

Location: Melbourne, FL (onsite)

Salary: USD 65,800 - 118,900 per year

Experience: Minimum 2 years

Education: Master’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Perform multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and hardware engineers in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determine computer user needs.
  • Analyze system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls.
  • Prepare operating instructions.
  • Design and develop compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensure software standards are met.

Requirements

  • Be completing or has completed their Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026.
  • Be majoring in or having majored in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.
  • Be completing or has completed their Master’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026 or is completing or has completed their Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and has 2 years of software engineering experience by August 2026.
