Description

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector seeks a Sr. Principal Software Engineer (SW Modeler/Developer) to join a diverse, highly qualified team within the Western Region Software Engineering directorate. The position is based onsite in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on mission planning workflows to incorporate operational constraints and real-world mission requirements.
• Apply advanced debugging, troubleshooting, and integration skills within large-scale distributed systems.
• Provide demonstrated leadership in task management and mentor teammates across dynamic programs with tight deadlines.
• Design modular, reusable software architectures that minimize code footprint while improving maintainability and scalability.
• Conduct software design and modeling analyses to support system objectives.

Requirements

• A STEM bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, or a STEM master’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or a STEM PhD with 4+ years of experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and refactoring mission-critical ground software, including backend systems in Python and operator-facing front-end tools using React JS or similar technologies.
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance required at the time of application.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.
• Proficiency with software design and modeling tools.

Compensation

Salary: USD 142,200 - 213,400 per year
