Software Engineers (Level 2 or 3)

Northrop Grumman is seeking Software Development Engineers at Level 2 or Level 3 to contribute to the full lifecycle of satellite ground software from development through deployment and sustainment. This on-site role in Chantilly, Virginia places you at the heart of national security programs, where an active Top Secret clearance is required for consideration and the ability to obtain TS/SCI is noted as part of the qualification path.

Responsibilities

• Engage in full stack development across the operating system, platform, and mission-specific software layers.
• Create client and server applications and services using service-oriented or object-oriented architectures, with data exchange via message buses that enable first-of-a-kind capabilities.
• Work across languages and tools including Python, C++, PostgreSQL, Ansible, cloud provisioning, PKI, and static code analysis with remediation.
• Act as a self-starter capable of making decisions with regard to overall project budget and schedule.
• Support ground software configurations and operations, troubleshooting software and hardware affecting ground software performance.
• Contribute to Acceptance Test events, including executing tests.
• Develop test automation and configure ground segment software.
• Identify, resolve, and remediate software defects; implement enhancements driven by customer change requests or mission needs.
• Provide ground software support during launches and rehearsal events, and assist with installation of new ground segment software across operational, development, and test environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science or Engineering) with at least 2 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 0 years; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree with an added 4 years.
• Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Computer Science or Engineering) with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years; or a PhD with 1 year; experience may be considered in lieu of a degree with an added 4 years.
• Demonstrated software development experience.
• Experience with Python application development, C++, and Bash scripting.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Active Top-Secret clearance at the time of application with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.

Salary ranges

• Primary level: 91,800.00 – 137,600.00 USD
• Secondary level: 114,000.00 – 171,000.00 USD
