Software Engineer/ Software Architect - Level 4

Northrop Grumman is hiring a Level 4 Software Engineer / Software Architect for an onsite role in Huntsville, AL. This position supports Internal Research and Development (IRAD), with ownership across design, development, documentation, testing, and debugging of application software and systems. The role also includes planning and evolving processes to keep program execution aligned with goals.

As a Level 4 contributor, you will help shape software baselines, assess readiness across components, and lead development efforts in a complex environment where multiple subsystems and vendors must integrate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Plan and evolve processes and practices to execute program goals
• Analyze Demonstration and I&T Plans to define the software baselines required for each phase
• Perform gap analysis and maturity analysis for software components to identify needed capabilities
• Lead the development of new software systems in a complex environment
• Attain and use an overall system vision, managing development and integration of multiple subsystems and vendors

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline preferred and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years experience, or a PhD and 4 years experience
• Software architecture and design experience
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including container orchestration
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Configuration management experience using Git, Bitbucket, and JIRA
• Basic team leadership experience
• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs
• Current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance is required to start
