Software Developer - Expert

Located onsite in Chantilly, Virginia, Amentum seeks a seasoned software engineer to lead critical initiatives across full‑stack development, cloud modernization, and DevOps. The role targets a senior professional with 10 or more years of hands‑on experience who can guide projects from concept through deployment and ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

• Spearhead software development efforts from requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Design and build software solutions using Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL Server, Microsoft Windows Server, and Linux.
• Apply cloud technologies, migrate existing systems to the cloud, and establish new CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system operations with Splunk and Grafana/Prometheus.
• Utilize Jira and Confluence to manage agile workflows.
• Create technical documentation including system designs, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to reverse engineer legacy codebases and produce UML models.
• Support secure communications systems while ensuring compliance with operational and security standards.
• Research, prototype, and propose improvements to existing systems and architectures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex software, performance, and infrastructure challenges.
• Investigate and adopt emerging technologies to improve system efficiency.

Requirements

• Hands‑on experience with secure systems engineering, systems integration, and reverse engineering.
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages from this set: Python, NodeJS, Angular, JavaScript, C#, SQL.
• Experience with cloud technologies.
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Splunk, and diagramming tools.
• Strong debugging, performance optimization, and DevOps skills.
• Experience monitoring critical systems.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Compensation

USD 225,000 - 235,000 per year.

Security Clearance

Top Secret (Preferred).

Work Location

Chantilly, VA, onsite (in person).
