Amentum in Hanover, Maryland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep SPLUNK expertise to drive data integration and reporting for a large-scale enterprise deployment. This role centers on coordinating diverse data types and sources, collaborating with application teams to streamline data flow, and delivering robust software solutions that meet stringent performance standards.

Compensation
Salary: USD 200,000 - 275,000 annually

Responsibilities
- Study user requirements to derive design and performance criteria for software.
- Design and modify software to add new features or improve existing capabilities.
- Identify and fix defects in current software through debugging activities.
- Integrate existing software into new or updated systems or environments.
- Create simple data queries for existing databases or data repositories.
- Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
- Develop or apply algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional targets.
- Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components.
- Write or review software and system documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Analyze system performance, data usage, and workflows to propose software solutions in collaboration with users and engineers.
- Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or enhance performance.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems using analytical methods and mathematical models to predict outcomes.
- Design or implement complex database interfaces and data repository queries.
- Oversee one or more software development teams, ensuring work aligns with project processes and constraints.
- Design and implement algorithms with strict timing and resource constraints; perform quality control on team outputs.
- Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to derive requirements, capabilities, and performance targets.
- Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment to ensure operational specs are met.
- Implement recommendations to improve documentation and development standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 19 years of relevant software engineering experience.
- At least 3 years of SPLUNK experience.
- At least 3 years of C++ development experience.
- 14+ years of Java development experience, including at least two years with Java 1.7+ and development of presentation tiers.
- Two or more years of experience using Spring and JavaScript.
- Five or more years of JSP and Servlet programming.
- Five or more years of experience with JEE and enterprise web application design and development.
- Five or more years of experience designing and writing RESTful applications.
- Ability to deploy and run applications in an Apache Tomcat web server.
- One or more years of experience with JavaScript presentation libraries such as jQuery, Angular, or EXTJS.
- One or more years of MongoDB and Apache Camel experience is desirable.
- Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
