Sentinel Principal / Sr Principal Software Engineer

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Software Engineer to join the Sentinel program, onsite in Roy, Utah. The role spans designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software across full stack and cloud/container environments, and requires a PhD with at least one year of experience. The compensation ranges from USD 98,400 to 184,200 per year, and eligible candidates must be US citizens with an active DoD Secret clearance (reinvestigation date within the last six years) and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).

Responsibilities

• Creates and refines application software and systems that implement logical and mathematical solutions, including documentation, testing, and debugging.
• Leads cross-disciplinary research and partners with hardware engineers and equipment designers in planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
• Assesses user needs and analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and builds compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
• Maintains adherence to software standards.

Requirements

• Candidates must be US citizens with an active DoD Secret clearance and a reinvestigation date within the past six years.
• Eligibility to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Experience working in Agile environments and in cross-functional Scrum teams.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles.
• Familiarity with SysML/UML and Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts.
• Experience developing web-based applications on cloud platforms.
• Experience deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Experience developing with Javascript, TypeScript and React.
• Proficient across the full stack, contributing to frontend UI/UX, backend APIs, and database design.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Express.
