Job Description

Software Engineer III specializing in AWS Glue and data engineering at JPMorganChase, onsite in Irvine, CA. Salary range is USD 133,000 – 185,000 per year. The role centers on designing and delivering trusted, scalable technology products in a secure and stable manner within an agile Corporate Sector team.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and builds scalable, resilient systems using AWS ETL to support iterative improvements for product teams.
  • Delivers software solutions, oversees design, development, and technical troubleshooting across projects.
  • Writes secure, high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that integrate with relevant systems.
  • Contributes to architecture and design artifacts for applications, ensuring code aligns with design constraints.
  • Gathers and analyzes data from large, diverse datasets, producing visualizations and reports to drive software enhancements.
  • Spotlights hidden issues and data patterns, applying insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Engages with software engineering communities of practice and events to explore new technologies.
  • Cultivates an inclusive team culture built on diversity and respect.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts with at least 3 years of practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Proficiency in coding with AWS Glue and AWS EMR.
  • Strong skills in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Exposure to AWS cloud technologies.
  • Understanding of agile practices including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Experience with multiple cloud and traditional data engineering technologies, including AWS services like Glue, EMR, and data warehousing.
  • Recent experience enabling data ingestion from on premise applications to a private cloud AWS environment using services such as S3, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Glue and related Studio/workflows, Glue Data Catalogue, CloudWatch, Aurora MySQL/PostgreSQL, and EMR, with Python or PySpark.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive analysis and design with knowledge of RDMS systems such as Oracle and solid SQL/PLSQL skills.
