Sr. Lead Software Engineer - AWS/AI Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud-native software solutions using modern technology stacks for highly available, performant, and resilient products
• Write and maintain secure, production-quality code; review and debug others’ code to improve reliability and maintainability
• Make engineering decisions that shape product design, application functionality, and operational processes across the full engineering lifecycle
• Act as a subject matter expert in one or more areas such as public cloud engineering, platform engineering, or infrastructure as code
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge-sharing to improve team capability and delivery consistency
• Partner with peers and project stakeholders to drive adoption of leading engineering practices and technologies that deliver measurable outcomes
• Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams, including AI-assisted code review and refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, and incident root-cause analysis
• Establish measurable validation standards for AI-assisted work and promote reuse across teams
• Apply tools across the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to scale automation value

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years applied experience and 2+ years experience leading engineers to plan, deliver, and resolve complex technical items within your domain
• Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and production operations for distributed services
• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages: Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript
• Experience migrating complex applications to the public cloud, including Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and SRE and Acceleration responsibilities
• Experience delivering in Agile environments using practices such as CI/CD and Scrum
• Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns, including experience implementing modular monolith and microservices architectures
• Proven experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) and the ability to set expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching senior engineers and leads on compliant usage patterns and controls

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

• Experience designing and maintaining API-based and event-driven architectures
• Advanced experience building and operating cloud-native solutions on Amazon Web Services
• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code patterns, including modules, policies, and environment promotion
• Experience with modern front-end development using React
• Experience defining observability standards (metrics, logs, traces) and operational readiness practices for production services
