Job Description
Join JPMorganChase in Columbus, OH (onsite) as a Lead Software Engineer within Corporate Technology. This role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership, focused on building scalable, secure distributed application platforms. You will lead SAS Viya and Databricks-related analytics and data platform capabilities across on-prem and AWS, while improving reliability, operational readiness, and modernization outcomes through disciplined engineering practices.
What you’ll do
- Lead end-to-end application development from plan and design through build, test, release, and operate, partnering with Site Reliability Engineering to deliver solutions that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
- Drive technical design and architecture for distributed application platforms, balancing performance, resiliency, cost, and delivery speed.
- Build and enhance analytics and data platform software capabilities, with ownership spanning SAS Viya (GKP), SAS Viya (AWS), and Databricks (AWS), including integration patterns, automation, and operational readiness.
- Develop and maintain platform and application services that support onboarding, configuration, environment management, user migrations, and governed access for SAS Viya and Databricks workloads across both on-prem and AWS.
- Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to refine requirements, define delivery roadmaps, and translate business outcomes into well-scoped epics, user stories, and technical deliverables.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards across coding standards, API contracts, testing strategy, documentation, and security controls, using peer review and automation to maintain quality.
- Lead modernization initiatives such as refactoring, re-platforming, and performance optimization to reduce technical debt and improve developer productivity.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years of applied experience and formal training or certification covering core software engineering concepts.
- Proven experience building and supporting production-grade services, including hands-on ownership of reliability, operational readiness, and root-cause remediation.
- Experience with cloud and containerized platforms and modern deployment practices, including Kubernetes and infrastructure and service automation.
- Ability to lead cross-functional incident, problem, and change activities with clear communication and disciplined follow-through.
- Experience driving CI/CD and release engineering practices to improve deployment frequency, reduce change risk, and enable repeatable automated releases.
- Technical leadership and mentorship experience, including coaching engineers, raising design and implementation standards, and strengthening engineering culture and execution discipline.
- Ability to use data and telemetry such as delivery metrics, quality signals, incident trends, and usage patterns to prioritize improvements and measure outcomes against service and product KPIs.
- Experience using SAS Viya and Databricks applications, including Kubernetes experience with user onboarding, migrations, troubleshooting, and incident and change management.
- Experience driving team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices (for example, AI-assisted coding/refactoring, code review support, test generation/acceleration, and troubleshooting/root-cause analysis support), with secure coding, peer review, automated testing validation standards, and reuse of proven patterns.
- Deep knowledge of SDLC toolchains including source control, CI/CD, artifact management, scanning, and observability, along with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.
