Software Engineer II - Java, React, AI

Software Engineer II role on JPMorganChase’s Commercial Investment Banking Payments team, delivering secure, stable, scalable software in an agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Execute standard software solution design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Write secure, high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance
• Use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools to support code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation while validating outputs via peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
• Design, develop, code, and troubleshoot solutions with awareness of upstream and downstream system impacts
• Apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to increase value through automation
• Perform technical troubleshooting for basic-complexity problems and break down solutions to resolve issues
• Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to support secure and stable application development decisions
• Learn and apply system processes, methodologies, and skills to develop secure, stable code and systems

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 4+ years applied experience
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Hands-on experience with Java (Core Java, J2E)
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools (for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Strong hands-on experience with User Interface Development using React.js
• Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
• Hands-on experience with version control systems
• Basic understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB), data structures, unit testing, and algorithms
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Exceptional problem-solving ability and analytical skills
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
