Python Software Engineer III

Join JPMorganChase as a Software Engineer III in the Corporate Sector Market Risk Technology team. You’ll work within an agile environment designing and delivering secure, stable, scalable technology products. The role supports critical business objectives, including initiatives that may involve AI-enabled solutions.

This position is based in Jersey City, NJ and requires onsite presence. Compensation for this role is USD 137,750 - 185,000 per year. With 3+ years of experience, you’ll be a seasoned contributor across multiple technical areas and partner closely with stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Execute end-to-end software solutions, covering design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to move beyond routine approaches when breaking down complex problems.
• Build secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with the appropriate systems.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (including code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation).
• Validate AI-assisted outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards, and share learnings and reusable patterns to strengthen team effectiveness.
• Apply knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase value realized through automation.
• Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software code development meets design constraints.
• Gather, analyze, and synthesize information from large, diverse data sets, producing visualizations and reporting that support continuous improvement of applications and systems.
• Proactively identify hidden issues and recurring patterns in data, using insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.

Required qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience across the SDLC, including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Advanced Python experience (for example, Pandas and NumPy) developing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise-scale codebases, plus proficiency in SQL and database querying.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI development tools across coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, with proven ability to validate and refine outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, and resiliency/security, with the ability to guide peers on safe and effective team usage.
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with front end technologies including React, Javascript, and Typescript.
• Experience with data mesh technology and systems such as Databricks is a plus.

• Good communication skills to engage with stakeholders.
