Senior Lead Software Engineer - UI Developer, Equities Risk Management

This onsite role in Jersey City, NJ sits within JPMorganChase's Equities Risk Management team, focusing on UI development with React and TypeScript to deliver secure, scalable frontend solutions. The position partners closely with front-office traders and backend groups to enable real-time, data‑driven applications. Compensation is USD 171,000 to 260,000 per year, and a minimum of five years of experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing technical guidance and leadership to business units, technical teams, contractors, and external vendors.
• Develop secure, production-grade code and review and debug work produced by others.
• Influence decisions that shape product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
• Act as a function-wide subject matter expert in designated focus areas.
• Contribute to the engineering community by promoting firmwide SDLC frameworks, tools, and practices.
• Encourage the adoption of leading-edge technologies among peers and project decision-makers.

• Design and deliver high-performance React interfaces over large-scale real-time datasets, replacing an established fat client platform used by traders across global desks.
• Collaborate directly with front-office traders to understand requirements, often inferring detailed specifications from existing tools and workflows, and iterating rapidly on feedback.
• Work closely with backend services teams and external data platform vendors to integrate advanced data delivery technologies into the frontend stack.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus five or more years of hands-on experience.
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
• Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript with a track record of building production applications for high-performance, low-latency environments.
• Extensive experience with enterprise data grid frameworks (such as AG Grid), including virtualization, server-side row models, and rendering optimization across large datasets.
• Ability to solve design and functionality challenges independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven experience working directly with demanding end users, translating informal requirements into precise and consistent UI solutions.
• Educational background in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Experience in financial services, particularly trading floor technology, equities, or risk management platforms.
• Experience with enterprise design systems such as Salt Design System or similar component libraries, prioritizing consistency and usability.
