Job Description

United Activities Unlimited, Inc. invites a Job Developer to join the CRED program on site in Staten Island, NY. The role centers on building and sustaining partnerships with transportation industry employers, placing participants into paid internships, and guiding career planning and job placement under program leadership. This position offers an annual salary of $58,500 and requires an associate degree with at least three years of experience in related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local employers in the transportation industry
  • Place clients in internships with employer partners and monitor their progress according to UAU and DYCD guidelines
  • Visit host internship sites to ensure compliance with safety and labor laws
  • Assist clients with obtaining permanent employment in the transportation industry
  • Work with each client to develop a personalized career plan
  • Facilitate individual and group career counseling sessions
  • Advise, mentor, and coach CRED clients to support their success through advocacy, support, and guidance
  • Conduct retention and follow-up services to support clients after they complete pre-employment training and progress toward long-term goals
  • Collect, maintain, and audit client files for completion and accuracy in accordance with DYCD and UAU standards
  • Work with CRED Case Managers and Social Worker to complete case notes and document each client’s progress
  • Assist the Program Director with entering and approving client timecards
  • Participate in team meetings, conferences, professional development trainings, and other program-related events and activities
  • Work collaboratively with other CRED team members to ensure the program meets all DYCD goals, deliverables, and deadlines
  • Assist the CRED Instructor with designing and delivering the CRED training curriculum
  • Assist with any other departmental duties and projects as needed

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in workforce development or in social services working with vulnerable populations; experience in the commercial driving industry preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with a wide range of constituents
  • Ability to stay organized while working with multiple stakeholders (clients, partners, etc.)
  • Strong project management experience, with ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deliverables and deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and move projects forward in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment
  • Excels working in a collaborative environment to achieve target objectives and outcomes
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint and the G-Sulte platforms
  • Strong time management and partnership management skills
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to thoughtfully and accurately assess and respond to individual needs
  • Respect for diverse racial, socio-economic, ethnic, academic, religious, and cultural backgrounds and identities
  • Displays a superior level of professionalism, including attire, appearance, and demeanor

Physical Requirements

  • Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need
  • Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc
  • Position is in a well-lighted office environment
  • Involves sitting approximately 70 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time
  • May include working prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; accurate information exchange is required
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more)
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs as needed
  • May include travel to a variety of locations, based on programming needs, with travel reimbursed per UAU policies
