Job Description

SourceAmerica is recruiting a Job Developer/Employment Specialist to help build community-based work opportunities and support individuals with disabilities in preparing for competitive employment. The role focuses on developing job placement plans, partnering with employers on accommodations, and coordinating services before and after placement.

Onsite Role Location and Schedule

Location: Wharton, NJ (onsite). Work mode: in person.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The position requires flexibility based on business needs, which may include evenings, nights, and/or weekends.

Compensation

This position offers $20.00 to $21.00 per hour (USD 20 - 21 per hourly).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop local job opportunities for individuals with disabilities or other populations served.
  • Educate employers on accommodations, assistive technology, disability awareness, and the ADA.
  • Create a job placement plan for each program participant using referral information, strengths, needs, preferences, supports required, health and safety considerations, and local labor market trends.
  • Review and revise job placement plans on a regular basis.
  • Evaluate and discuss differences between job or skill requirements and a participant’s abilities before decisions about job fit are made.
  • Assess co-worker social factors to ensure an appropriate social climate, identify potential challenges, and develop solutions before the participant starts.
  • Assess safety conditions at potential community job sites.
  • Transport program participants to job interviews and work sites as needed.
  • Support job-seeking skill development, interviewing skills, and transportation options.
  • Coordinate pre-placement services with program participants, referral sources, families, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with the organization regarding placement on the VRS priority placement list.
  • Maintain up-to-date awareness of local labor market trends.
  • Participate, as assigned, in community professional and business organizations, including Morris County Partnership for Employment and Transition Services, Chambers of Commerce, Rotary, and trade or business shows.
  • Perform employment specialist duties as needed.
  • Maintain current service planning documents, service logs, forms, and case notes in the case management system, and assist with writing timely service reports to referral sources.
  • Attend and actively participate in department and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Associate’s degree in human services, marketing, or a related field.

Minimum Experience

  • 1+ years experience in industry performing sales related work is preferred.
  • 1 year minimum experience required.

  • Reliable transportation and valid vehicle insurance.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to communicate regularly with required personnel.
  • Ability to operate required equipment.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in various spaces.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to operate in areas that may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to function in areas where the noise level is usually moderate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • 1+ years’ experience in industry performing sales related work.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification.
