Senior Associate, R&D Tax Credits - Software Engineer
Job Description
KPMG is hiring a Senior Associate in Accounting Methods and Credit Services to support R&D Tax Credit consulting for software development clients in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities
- Deliver R&D Tax Credit consulting through multi-disciplinary engagement, including leading client interviews and discussions
- Perform tax technical research and build business and industry expertise aligned to current tax law, including section 41 guidelines
- Apply knowledge of software development methodologies, object-oriented programming concepts, and database management system design patterns
- Conduct SME interviews and review documentation to translate software development activities into tax definitions for qualified research and development
- Analyze technical documents to determine and document the tax treatment of relevant items
- Create technical narratives that convey technical concepts using standard industry terminology
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team of KPMG engineers to support R&D Tax Credit consulting, including interviews with technical subject matter experts
- Ensure research findings conform with current tax law, including section 41 guidelines, while expanding expertise across a range of industries
Requirements
- Minimum two years of recent full-time industry experience in product management, technology sales, or technology consulting
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Engineering, MIS, or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Java, C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, or similar
- Working knowledge of SQL, database concepts, common software design patterns, and data structures and algorithms
- Working knowledge of cloud computing: AWS and Azure
- Knowledge of common computer infrastructure concepts, web-based or n-tiered architectures, and performance tuning of databases and middleware
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including engaging senior technical management, solution and enterprise architects and owners to gather requirements, support technical sales, or conduct technology evaluations
- Ability to travel and work at client locations
