Job Description
A senior IT systems developer role based onsite in Owatonna, MN, focused on supporting and enhancing business systems using Java/Spring, OutSystems, SQL Server, and Tableau, with ownership, collaboration, and a fast-paced delivery mindset; salary USD 101,700 - 137,500 per year.
Responsibilities
- Examine system behavior and pinpoint root causes across multiple integrated environments; collaborate with engineering teams to drive resolutions.
- Track support issue patterns, analyze trends, and propose or implement preventative measures.
- Educate and empower stakeholders and Help Desk staff to resolve common production issues more quickly.
- Design and deploy configuration changes and integrations aligned to coding and architectural standards.
- Participate in technical design discussions; document approaches and impacts on upstream and downstream systems.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements within the support workflow.
- Create test scenarios and cases; conduct unit, system, regression, and acceptance testing.
- Develop, maintain, and interpret automated test results where applicable.
- Collaborate with product owners, business SMEs, QA, and other IS teams; provide clear, timely progress updates, risks, and decisions.
- Develop resolution strategies with business stakeholders and set expectations for timelines and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum five years of professional development experience.
- Proven ownership and reliable follow-through on commitments.
- Experience diagnosing complex, integrated systems and relational databases, particularly SQL Server.
- Proficiency in Java with the Spring Framework, or strong experience in a comparable object-oriented language; OutSystems knowledge is a plus with training available.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, messaging and integration patterns, and diagnosing application and server logs.
- Experience using Git and Azure DevOps (or similar) for version control and work management.
- Highly collaborative and communicative, able to translate technical topics for non-technical partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills; able to challenge ideas constructively and propose alternatives.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with high transparency and accountability.
