Senior Java Developer/Programmer

Astyra Corporation is hiring a Senior Java Developer/Programmer for a remote, 1-year contract supporting an environmental information system and an ongoing migration to a new information exchange platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for the existing application, including troubleshooting, defect resolution, and performance monitoring
• Support the migration effort by contributing to data conversion, application redevelopment, and system integration activities
• Design, develop, modify, and maintain Java-based application code aligned with established standards and project requirements
• Develop, consume, and modify APIs to enable integration between the existing application, the new system, and related external systems
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced Oracle database queries, procedures, and data structures that support application functionality
• Collaborate with project stakeholders and technical leads to maintain continuity of operations and support migration milestone delivery
• Document technical processes, system changes, and development activities to support knowledge transfer and continuity
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack using analytical and problem-solving skills

Requirements

• 5 years proven experience designing, building, and maintaining enterprise-level Java applications
• 5 years expertise in complex query development, performance tuning, and data structure design
• 5 years experience creating, consuming, and modifying APIs for system-to-system integration
• 5 years experience migrating legacy applications to new platforms, including data conversion and system cutover planning
• 5 years ability to work across requirements, design, development, testing, and deployment phases
• 5 years experience providing operational support for live systems, including defect diagnosis and resolution under time constraints
