Senior Java Developer

SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Senior Java Developer for a hybrid position supporting complex enterprise Java systems in the Columbia, SC area. The role involves hands-on application development, database update work, and production support within an Agile delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, test, debug, implement, maintain, and support complex Java applications.
• Deliver application enhancements and perform Oracle database updates while ensuring solutions meet technical and business requirements.
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues, including evaluating downstream impact of application changes.
• Work with business analysts, customers, developers, and other stakeholders to convert requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, design recommendations, and development guidance to other team members.
• Contribute across the full software development life cycle, including Agile planning, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and ongoing support.

Required Qualifications

• Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.; SYSTEMTEC cannot provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or an accepted combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in application development, systems testing, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience developing Java applications using Eclipse.
• Experience with Oracle databases and performing database updates.
• Proficiency with Hibernate 3.0+ and the Spring Framework, including experience with versions 3.x, 5.x, and/or 6.x.
• Experience using Jenkins and GitHub in a software development environment.
• Strong understanding of SDLC practices including systems analysis, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Must currently be located within approximately 30–45 minutes of the Columbia, South Carolina area; relocating candidates must be local before submission.

Work Location

This hybrid role is based in the Columbia, South Carolina area. Onsite work is expected approximately 3 days per week, with additional onsite presence as needed.

• Compensation: USD 69 per hour (hourly).
