Join Walmart Engineering in Bentonville, AR (onsite) to help design and scale cloud-native platforms used across a large enterprise ecosystem. This role focuses on building resilient, automated systems and owning end-to-end solutions, from API design and distributed services to CI/CD pipelines and developer tools. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners including product management and user experience, and contribute to continuous improvement while supporting productivity and innovation, including efforts to integrate generative AI.

What you’ll do

Partner with cross-functional teams to define high-level designs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
Develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, high-quality code aligned to established standards and best practices.
Troubleshoot complex production and business issues using root cause analysis and effective problem-solving.
Lead small engineering groups through guidance, documentation, and mentorship to support timely delivery.
Implement automation scripts and telemetry features to support continuous integration and deployment.
Monitor application performance, perform maintenance activities, and evaluate change requests for feasibility and impact.
Support business users by answering technical inquiries and recommending sustainable solutions aligned with business goals.

Required qualifications

Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery in Agile environments.
Strong object-oriented programming skills and coding proficiency with JavaScript, Python, or C#.
Expertise in cloud-native architecture and platform design, including API and component services.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex production issues.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation scripting.
Ability to analyze requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure scalability and maintainability.
Experience collaborating cross-functionally and mentoring small engineering teams.

Minimum qualifications

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area, plus 2 years of software engineering experience or related area.
Option 2: 4 years of software engineering experience or related area.

Preferred qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
Background creating inclusive digital experiences, with knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and integrating accessibility into digital products and services.

Compensation and benefits

Annual salary range: $90,000.00 to $180,000.00
