Senior ServiceNow Developer
Job Description
Verisign is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer to own the end-to-end design, deployment, and governance of ServiceNow initiatives across ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM. This hybrid role, based in Reston, VA, blends strategic platform leadership with hands-on delivery, collaborating with business and IT stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure solutions that align with organizational goals. The position offers a competitive salary range of USD 135,800 to 183,800 per year and requires at least 8 years of experience along with a bachelor’s degree.
Platform Responsibilities
- Lead the overall design of the ServiceNow platform to align with business objectives and industry best practices; collaborate with executives, stakeholders, and technical teams to implement innovative solutions on the ServiceNow platform; define platform roadmaps that emphasize scalability, performance, stability, and auditability; design workflows, integrations, and modules to extend platform capabilities.
- Drive end-to-end implementation of ServiceNow solutions, covering Core foundation, ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, TPRM, and other relevant modules; manage platform upgrades and ensure applications are optimized and compliant with enterprise security and governance standards; provide technical guidance to configure, customize, and develop on the ServiceNow platform based on business needs; maintain documentation of solutions.
- Provide leadership in process governance and technical best practices; mentor a team of ServiceNow engineers; collaborate across IT, Security, Engineering, Finance, and HR to drive platform adoption and success; demonstrate the ability to meet strict deadlines and lead multiple teams.
- Engage with executive leadership to understand business objectives and deliver solutions with tangible value and measurable outcomes; coordinate with ServiceNow team management to ensure clear communication regarding project status, challenges, and milestones.
- Establish technical governance and best practices to continuously improve platform performance and operational efficiency; stay current with the latest ServiceNow trends and releases, applying new technologies to enhance the platform; foster a safe environment for engineers to experiment with solutions that address organizational needs.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience with ServiceNow, including deep expertise in ITSM, ITAM, ITOM, SecOps, GRC, and TPRM modules.
- Strong architecture and design experience for ServiceNow implementations, including workflows, custom apps, and integrations.
- Proven track record leading technical teams, governance, and delivering large-scale projects.
- Proficiency with scripting languages used on the ServiceNow platform (JavaScript, Glide) and Service Portal technologies (HTML, CSS, AngularJS, SASS, Bootstrap).
- Solid understanding of CMDB, Asset Management, Discovery, Portal, Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
- Experience integrating ServiceNow with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs, Integration Hub, and Spokes.
- Nice to have Perl and Python programming in a Linux environment.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, and Kanban development methodologies.
- Proven ability to mentor technical teams and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts to business leaders and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Business, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (ITSM, ITAM, or similar), ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
- ITIL v3/v4 certification is a plus; Certified Technical Architect (CTA) is a big plus.
