Senior Java Developer

Tavant Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Senior Java Developer for a hybrid role based in New York, NY. In this position, you will help develop and support enterprise-deployed systems while collaborating closely with a team of engineers and contributing to architecture, reviews, and production incident response.

The role is designed for experienced software engineers with deep hands-on work across Java and Kotlin, along with exposure to Rust and AWS-based RESTful services. You will also engage with async programming concepts and modern delivery practices, including CI/CD and deployment automation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers building software through a team-based development process
• Build high-performance, stable, and scalable systems for enterprise deployment
• Lead high-level architecture discussions and planning sessions
• Provide feedback during the code review process on pull requests
• Join an on-call rotation to support systems and services during production incidents

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with Java/Kotlin
• Experience with Rust
• Experience with AWS cloud platforms
• Experience building RESTful services
• Understanding of async programming models (events, callbacks, promises, async/await)
• Understanding of source control concepts with exposure to Git
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar
• Self-learner with independent work habits and excellent problem-solving skills
• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience
