Django Developer

The Cruise Brothers Warwick, FL

Warwick, FL

1mo ago Closed

$115k+/yr Full time Backend Developer Python Agent Automation

This position is no longer accepting applications (closed Sep 27, 2026).

Job Description

The Cruise Brothers is seeking a backend Django (Python) developer to help build and modernize CBAT, the company’s in-house platform. The role focuses on production backend work in Django with PostgreSQL, while supporting integrations across bookings and related business systems.

What You’ll Build

Backend features spanning bookings, commissions, agent management, messaging, and reporting
API endpoints and integrations with external travel systems, including cruise booking engines and vendor feeds
Integrations with payment and SMS providers
Support and extend a hook and automation platform where model events trigger hooks, and hooks drive LLM agents

Backend Ownership and Modernization Approach

You will modernize a mature codebase as an ongoing effort rather than a disruptive rewrite. The work includes improving structure (such as per-model folders), moving query logic onto QuerySets, standardizing around a single mutation primitive per operation, and using CI checks that prevent drift over time.

Own tickets end to end: reproduce, fix, test, and ship
Gradually grow ownership over a specific slice of the platform

Core Requirements

4+ years building production web applications with Python and Django, or comparable experience in a mature framework such as Rails, Laravel, Spring, or ASP.NET with a strong drive to move to Django
Comfort working within a large, established codebase and navigating code you did not write
Solid foundation in relational data modeling and PostgreSQL
Enough front-end capability in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to complete your own features (a dedicated front-end developer exists, but work should not be blocked)
Documentation-first approach before asking questions, and the ability to verify AI-generated code before shipping

Nice to Have

Experience with payments, accounting systems, travel, telephony/SMS, or systems involving money stored in a database

Technologies

Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Vue
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
QuerySets
LLM agents
Rails, Laravel, Spring, ASP.NET

Compensation

USD 115,000 per year.

Minimum experience: 4 years.

Benefits

Healthcare
Unlimited PTO
401(k) with a 6% company match
Travel perks, as the company is a cruise business

How Team Development Works

Much of the code is written in Claude Code sessions with automated conformity checks
30-way parallel testing, migration linting, and automated review on every pull request
Platform knowledge documented in a system designed to get you productive within your first week
Four developers with direct access to the CTO and leadership team

Location and Work Model

The role is based in Warwick, Rhode Island or Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (hybrid). You will start with a couple of days in the office per week, easing off as you establish yourself, with flexibility on which days.

The team is also open to fully remote candidates for a genuine Django expert.

The development team is in Rhode Island, and Palm Beach Gardens is home to the sales and marketing teams who use what you build daily.
