Java/Spring Boot Software Engineer/Developer

Join Hewlett Packard Enterprise in Aguadilla, PR (onsite) to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical Software Ops applications. In this mid-level Java/Spring Boot role, you will work across enterprise Java and microservices, contribute to CI/CD automation, and help drive containerized and Kubernetes-focused platform improvements. What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot.
• Build scalable, resilient microservices using Spring MVC and Spring Data JPA.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Develop and maintain automated unit tests using JUnit 5 and Mockito.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and performance issues.
• Manage database schema changes and migrations with industry-standard migration tools.
• Containerize applications and services using Docker.
• Participate in code reviews and apply software engineering best practices.
• Address cybersecurity findings and vulnerability remediation using VTN, Quercus, and other security assessment platforms.
• Analyze and remediate CVE impacts across supported applications and dependencies.
• Use SonarQube to improve code quality and reduce technical debt.
• Support CI/CD automation using Jenkins and GitHub-based workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, and Product teams to deliver reliable solutions.
• Participate in deployment, operational support, and production issue resolution.
• Support modernization efforts, including Kubernetes proof-of-concept and cloud-native initiatives.

What you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience building and maintaining microservices architectures.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong SQL and relational database experience, including Oracle and SQL Server.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests using JUnit 5 and Mockito.
• Experience with Git and other Git-based source control systems.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Onsite work

This role is designed as Onsite, with the expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.
