Civicom builds high-stakes, AI-driven healthcare SaaS platforms, and this Senior Software Engineer role is designed for engineers who want real full-cycle ownership. You will work in an intense, flat environment where execution matters, and your work directly supports AI healthcare applications. Team impact is amplified by Civicom’s broader engineering network of 50+ engineers across 20 global brands.
This is an in-person role based in Carlsbad, CA (onsite). Civicom offers a competitive base salary of USD 65,000 - 150,000 per year, plus quarterly performance bonuses tied directly to high-impact execution. Employees also receive a modified profit-sharing bonus each quarter, and ten percent of the company stock appreciation is being transferred to employees.
Responsibilities
- Own work end to end: identify the problem, prioritize it, design the architecture, write the code, and ship the fix.
- Translate an abstract product vision into production-ready, resilient software by breaking down complex requirements and shipping autonomously.
- Provide direct ownership of an elite product team building AI healthcare applications, supported by a wider network of 50+ engineers across 20 global brands under Civicom.
Requirements
- Advanced TypeScript proficiency (React framework) and Node.js.
- Strong competence with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
- Working knowledge of Python for AI integration work, along with willingness to navigate enterprise domains like Java EE or new environments as needed.
- Deep engineering fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly across key modern layers.
- Experience taking abstract product goals, breaking down complex requirements, and delivering production-ready, resilient software independently.
- Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain dense, complex AI and engineering concepts in simple, razor-sharp English to non-technical stakeholders or healthcare executives.
- High energy with zero ego: drive strategic change as an individual contributor, advocate for ideas with passion, and pivot to execute the best idea in the room regardless of ownership.
- Forever learner mindset: approach conversations with learning as the goal, communicate with others through listening and questions.
- Long-term legacy mindset: commit to the mission long enough to see compounding results from the systems you architect today.
- Grit & intensity: a “whatever it takes” approach during critical releases or when complex bugs stall progress, without deflecting responsibility.
- Full-cycle fixer: not just pointing out flaws or filing tickets, but resolving issues.
