Anduril Industries builds mission-focused software to protect the United States and its allies from advanced ballistic, hypersonic, and air-breathing threats. On the Strategic Defense team, you will help create a software-defined command and control layer designed to see, decide, and act faster than any human operator could alone, with work spanning autonomy, tracking, simulation, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation. This role is onsite in Washington, DC and includes travel up to 25% to support real-world demonstrations and customer events.
What youβll do
- Develop tools and capabilities that extend Lattice OS to address unique customer needs across command and control of complex assets, planning and execution of missile defense missions, networking, and remote asset management in far-edge environments.
- Partner with customers, product designers, and other engineering teams to shape and build new software products and applications, optimizing for maximum end-user value.
- Build, test, deploy, and demonstrate mission-critical front-end code through a tight feedback loop with end users.
- Contribute to existing software services across Anduril, with an emphasis on creating reusable components that can support success across multiple product lines.
- Travel up to 25% to participate in customer events and deploy capabilities in real-world scenarios.
- Own end-to-end front-end decisions for a team of 30+ engineers, making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs in ambiguous situations where more is at stake than money or corporate gains.
Core requirements
- Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Proficiency with web-based technologies, specifically React and TypeScript (ReactJS experience is required).
- Ability to empathize with end users, translate needs into features, and balance user experience with engineering constraints.
- Experience with real-time user interfaces using reactive programming libraries.
- Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
- Interest in developing critical software that has real-world impact.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Team context
The Strategic Defense team is responding to threats that arrive in seconds, maneuver mid-flight, and come in volleys designed to overwhelm legacy systems. The team spans autonomy, tracking, simulation and wargaming, hardware, systems engineering, and test and evaluation to build an accredited fire control system fielded rapidly and at scale. The group is also at the forefront of incubating and maturing AI-native offerings for the integrated air and missile defense domain.
Preferred qualifications
- Development of military operator-facing user interfaces.
- Experience working with military customers.
- Knowledge of distributed communication networks and message standards.
- Knowledge of military systems and operational tactics.
Benefits
