Software Engineer 3

Wellabe Services Co seeks a Software Engineer 3 to build and evolve complex software solutions across the development lifecycle while providing technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement cost-effective enhancements for existing or new complex software applications, services, and processes by analyzing business and technical requirements.
• Investigate problem areas and deliver effective solutions aligned to department standards.
• Support the software development lifecycle through performance monitoring and review.
• Perform coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and lead code reviews.
• Implement complex software applications and manage change management processes per department standards.
• Contribute to DevOps practices via complex designs, prototypes, automation initiatives, and development methodologies.
• Develop and implement test plans, deployment strategies, and program specifications.
• Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, system engineers, architects, and testers to analyze business requirements.
• Work to reduce technical debt and improve operational efficiency, system reliability, and business outcomes.
• Help develop and evolve application and system architecture while aligning solutions to enterprise standards, security requirements, and long-term objectives.
• Use test environments, automated testing tools, and test cases to prototype, validate, and improve software solutions.
• Improve delivery efficiency by providing input on coding standards, development practices, tools, automation opportunities, and emerging technologies, including AI-assisted development capabilities.
• Evaluate and implement modern engineering technologies, frameworks, and AI-enabled development practices to improve productivity, quality, and maintainability.
• Document programs, processes, procedures, technical designs, and implementation details according to department standards.
• Lead, train, mentor, and support software engineers by delegating responsibilities and providing technical guidance and coaching.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship for AI-enabled software solutions, including retrieval-based knowledge access, intelligent automation, agentic architecture patterns, and secure development practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of related progressive experience in development and systems analysis.
• Experience with at least 1 to 3 coding languages; C# and SQL preferred.
• Experience in project management.
• Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, practices, methodologies, and programming languages including C#, .NET/.NET Core, SQL, LINQ, and Blazor.
• Optional: Python and JavaScript / Angular experience.
• Advanced knowledge of system design, software architecture, application integration patterns, and development tools.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud technologies and data processing concepts, policies, practices, terminology, and procedures.
• For web development team: ASP.NET, WCF, RESTful / Web API, MAUI/Xamarin, WPF, MVVM, Windows desktop, mobile and browser-based application development, web services support.
• For web development team: Microsoft DevOps, Agile Development, iOS deployment process, GitHub, Android Development, Cloud Development, Containerized Deployment, and Data Analytics and/or AI.
• For policy administration development team: .NET, COBOL, Microsoft DevOps, Git, and GitHub Copilot and/or Microsoft 365 Copilot (or equivalent).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify complex issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives, manage projects, facilitate cross-team collaboration, and influence technical direction.

Strong Preference

• Working knowledge of AI application architecture, including large language models, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, and agent-to-agent communication patterns.
• Ability to evaluate AI technologies and recommend appropriate architectures, frameworks, implementation patterns, and governance considerations based on business and technical requirements.
• Experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, including knowledge retrieval, vector search, grounding strategies, and prompt orchestration.
• Experience architecting, developing, and supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and integrations to enable AI agents to securely access enterprise systems and data sources.
• Experience designing, configuring, and optimizing agentic workflows using platforms such as Azure AI Foundry and Microsoft Copilot Studio (or similar AI orchestration and agent development tools).
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development methodologies and toolchains to accelerate software delivery, including code generation, testing, documentation, debugging, and solution design.
