Software Engineer 3 - (Full Stack, UI/UX, Python)

Akina, Inc. supports custom software work for operators and analysts, with opportunities to build end-to-end solutions in a fast-moving environment. This onsite role in Fort Meade, MD is designed for engineers who want to pair strong UI/UX with automation and reliable back-end development, while working across small, cross-functional teams.

Compensation: USD 245,000 - 299,000 per year.

Schedule: Onsite in Fort Meade, MD.

What you’ll build and own

• Gather requirements and improve existing corporate tools used by operators and analysts.
• Understand the customer mission, collaborate with team members, gather user requirements, and automate workflows.
• Design and create reliable, intuitive user interfaces and end-to-end workflows.
• Develop solutions for data visualizations, task automation, and workflow enhancements.
• Integrate with and contribute to diverse teams, systems, and technology stacks.
• Work closely with a team lead to understand and address needs across analysts and developers.
• Independently drive projects and proposals, owning the full development lifecycle.

Key requirements

• Teams are small and cross-functional, so experience across some combination of UI/UX, middleware/API, back-end, DevOps, CNO, or data science is a fit.
• Experience leveraging AI Agents to assist with software development and research (examples listed: Claude Code, Codex, Pi).
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS.
• Experience writing scripts and services in Python.
• Experience developing with UI frameworks (examples listed: Angular, React).
• Familiarity with relational databases (examples listed: Postgres, SQLite).
• Familiarity with GitLab for CI/CD.
• Familiarity with Docker.

AD3 qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering, plus a minimum of twelve (12) years of software/system development work experience
• Or a Master’s in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, plus a minimum of ten (10) years of experience
• Substitution: four (4) additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
