Job Description

The Waldinger Corporation is seeking a Software Engineer to help design, build, and improve software that supports day-to-day business operations. This onsite role in Des Moines, IA combines hands-on development with practical ownership of how systems integrate and communicate.

The work spans the full development lifecycle, from implementing features and data solutions to validating changes through QA and end-user testing. You will also help shape the company’s technology approach as new integrations and vendor solutions come into view.

Responsibilities

Design and implement cost-effective enhancements for existing or new complex software applications, services, and processes by analyzing business and technical requirements.

Strong Preference

Working knowledge of AI application architecture, including large language models, vector databases, semantic search, prompt engineering, and agent-to-agent communication patterns.
Ability to evaluate AI technologies and recommend appropriate architectures, frameworks, implementation patterns, and governance considerations based on business and technical requirements.
Experience designing and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, including knowledge retrieval, vector search, grounding strategies, and prompt orchestration.
Experience architecting, developing, and supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and integrations to enable AI agents to securely access enterprise systems and data sources.
Experience designing, configuring, and optimizing agentic workflows using platforms such as Azure AI Foundry and Microsoft Copilot Studio (or similar AI orchestration and agent development tools).
Experience leveraging AI-assisted development methodologies and toolchains to accelerate software delivery, including code generation, testing, documentation, debugging, and solution design.
