Software Engineer

Thomas & Reed, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer in Columbus, OH to plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications, with an emphasis on UX innovation. The role supports improvements to existing products and the creation of new cloud-based, internet-connected solutions.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications with a focus on user experience (UX) innovation.
• Drive enhancements to existing products and develop new solutions, especially within cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools.
• Deliver intuitive, high-performance UX applications that support strategic product differentiation and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, applied across diverse development environments.
• Experience across both front-end and back-end development, including understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
• Familiarity with Agile practices, including Kanban and Scrum, with experience in iterative development and team collaboration.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
• Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL, for effective data modeling and access.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting complex technical issues and proposing effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for teamwork across multidisciplinary groups.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Hands-on experience with GUI development using modern tools and frameworks, with a focus on usability and performance.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices to support secure design and implementation.
