Software Engineer, CX

Cisco is building scalable software that supports real-world customer experiences across both cloud-native and on-premises environments. As a Software Engineer (CX) in Richardson, TX (hybrid), you will help design, develop, and deliver solutions that prioritize secure coding practices, user privacy, and strong UX, while leveraging AI-enabled frameworks to accelerate product capabilities.

This role combines end-to-end delivery ownership with hands-on engineering. You will bridge technical strategy and high-impact implementation, leading complex work through the full software lifecycle in an environment designed for collaboration and innovation.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable software solutions across cloud-native and on-premises environments
• Own the technical lifecycle for complex projects, emphasizing secure coding, user privacy, and exceptional UX
• Integrate AI-enabled frameworks and development tools to accelerate product capabilities and streamline daily workflow
• Drive end-to-end implementation while staying at the forefront of AI-driven engineering innovation
• Bridge the gap between technical strategy and hands-on product development

What you’ll bring

• Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of related experience, or Master’s plus 3 years, or PhD plus 0 years
• Experience working with cloud-native architectures (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and on-premises environments
• Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable solutions using Python
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks, generative AI, and large language models
• Ability to lead end-to-end delivery using experience with SDLC, Agile methodologies, and secure coding practices

Preferred background

• Experience programming in Node.js
• Experience in AI governance and artificial intelligence compliance, including prompt engineering and generative AI proficiency aligned to business objectives

• Clear communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams

Compensation and location

Salary: USD 128,600 - 256,000 per year. The expected application window closes on 10/21/2026.

Hybrid work model: In-office attendance expected 2–3 times a week in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, Richardson, TX, or Austin, TX.

Starting salary range for U.S. and/or Canada locations is $128,600.00 to $184,900.00, excluding incentive compensation, equity, or benefits. Individual pay is determined by hiring location, market conditions, and job-related skillset, experience, qualifications, education, certifications, and/or training.

Note on time off by state: New York City Metro Area: $155,000.00 - $256,000.00; Non-Metro New York state & Washington state: $138,100.00 - $227,900.00. Employees in Illinois will participate in a unique time off program to meet local requirements.
