Job Description

Onyx Point, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems built on documented requirements. Based in Hanover, MD with onsite work, this role supports the full software lifecycle, including component review and testing, troubleshooting problem reports, and contributing to system design decisions.

You will work on software that spans processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The position also includes the ability to provide customer support and operate as a self-starter.

Role Summary

  • Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements.
  • Reviews and tests software components for adherence to design requirements and documents test results.
  • Resolves software problem reports.
  • Provides input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) options instead of new development.
  • Performs requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
  • Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Able to provide customer support and function effectively as a self-starter.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer (SWE) in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • 4 years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • To be considered, you must currently hold an active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance with the Federal Government (U.S. citizenship required).

Compensation

  • Salary range starts at $140,000 per year and up.
  • Final compensation is determined based on work location, role, skill set, and level of expertise.
