Software Engineer
Job Description
Thomas & Reed, LLC is hiring a Software Engineer to help plan, design, build, and validate software systems and applications with a clear focus on user experience (UX) innovation. This onsite role in Columbus, OH emphasizes shipping intuitive, high-performance experiences across cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools, including both enhancements to existing products and the creation of new solutions.
What you’ll do
- Plan, design, develop, and validate software systems and applications, centered on UX innovation.
- Deliver improvements to existing products and develop new solutions, especially within cloud-based platforms and internet-connected tools.
- Build UX-focused applications that support strategic product differentiation and customer satisfaction.
Core requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of software development experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, and C++, with the ability to apply them across diverse development environments.
- Experience across front-end and back-end development, with a solid understanding of full-stack architecture and integration.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Kanban and Scrum, with practical experience in iterative development and team collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment and service integration.
- Knowledge of database management systems, including both SQL and NoSQL, for data modeling and access.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting complex technical issues and proposing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary groups.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Hands-on experience with GUI development using modern tools and frameworks, with attention to usability and performance.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices, supporting secure design and implementation.
