Software Engineer
Job Description
Traackr is hiring a 100% remote Software Engineer in Boston, MA to own backend capabilities end-to-end and support distributed systems across data, analytics, search, and machine learning workloads.
Responsibilities
- Own backend features end-to-end: discovery, design, implementation, rollout, and ongoing reliability and operations (with support from senior teammates when needed)
- Design and evolve distributed systems including services, pipelines, and data stores with focus on performance, scalability, and resiliency
- Build and maintain APIs and data access patterns for analytics and search use cases
- Develop, maintain, and optimize scalable data pipelines that power product features, analytics, and ML workloads
- Drive data reliability, quality, and performance; monitor and troubleshoot pipelines to ensure consistent, timely delivery
- Strengthen engineering habits: thoughtful code reviews, solid testing, incident readiness, and operational excellence
- Use an experimentation-first approach: define hypotheses and success metrics/guardrails, run controlled rollouts and A/B tests when appropriate, and publish clear stakeholder readouts
- Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code productively and responsibly for implementation, debugging, refactoring, and design reviews while maintaining correctness, security, and privacy standards
- Apply evaluation discipline to AI-assisted work: treat prompts and configs as versioned artifacts, add regression tests, measure quality changes, and monitor for drift like performance or correctness
- Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers to ship intelligent, data-driven products
- Share knowledge through documentation, pairing, and participation in code reviews
- Document systems, pipelines, and architecture; help evolve engineering best practices
- Stay current with emerging tools, frameworks, and trends across software, data, and AI engineering
Requirements
- 2 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems; interest in growing into larger distributed systems challenges
- Growth mindset: curiosity, ability to learn new tools and domains quickly, and openness to feedback
- Strong general-purpose programming skills and software engineering fundamentals
- Strong debugging skills; ability to troubleshoot and performance-tune production services
- SQL and data modeling skills
- Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows
