Software Engineer

Rocket Companies is hiring a Software Engineer for its AI-native engineering environment in Michigan, onsite. In this role, you will deliver complex software independently, contribute to releases and validation, and help resolve production incidents through structured, blameless processes.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop and test complex software solutions
• Release and validate software to ensure it meets expected behavior
• Contribute to software support, incident resolution, and blameless reviews
• Develop code modules and reusable patterns that strengthen team execution
• Use AI code generation tools as part of your daily workflow, including options such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
• Participate in code and design reviews
• Provide software documentation and demonstrations for both technical and non-technical audiences
• Assist junior peers in understanding and completing their assignments

Required Qualifications

• Expertise solving problems by developing software using established patterns and practices
• Experience with team programming languages, frameworks, and platforms, such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Angular, or AWS
• Experience using AI code generation tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
• Exposure to developing software modules or patterns intended for reuse
• Experience conducting integration tests, assisting with software releases, and providing ongoing support
• Familiarity with Agile software development practices and artifacts, including user stories, backlog refinement, and sprint planning
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 3 years of experience in professional software engineering or a similar role
• Experience developing software modules or patterns used within the team
• Experience developing for a cloud environment or cloud provider certification
• Experience supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)
• Agile certification
• Experience mentoring and developing others
• Experience providing thought leadership to influence software development practices

On-Call Expectations

• This role may include participation in an on-call rotation to support production systems and maintain service reliability.
• On-call responsibilities may include coverage during nights and weekends.
• If applicable, the frequency and scheduling will be determined by team needs and communicated accordingly.
